A Typical Easy Grade Walk

This walk is a circuit of the beautiful GUADALEST RESERVOIR situated between the rugged mountains of Aixorta and Peņa Mulero.Throughout this walk there are spectacular views of the Reservoir itself and itīs shoreline, several ruined Moorish castles, the neighbouring mountains and the fortified village of Guadalest.

The walk begins at an impressive dam, starting out on a tree lined country lane. This lane ascends gently to wind itīs way above the steeply sided inlets of the reservoir. The route passes through scattered mature pine woods then later twists and turns between olive and almond groves on the terraced hillside. An area of shattered limestone cliff is then reached. Here the lane descends beneath the cliff face to a small bridge, and crosses the river, which runs into the reservoir.

The lane now turns sharply and climbs for a short distance before the route leaves the lane to follow a narrow track, which wends itīs way downhill in a series of sweeping loops, passing through terraces of almond and olive trees as it descends.

After crossing two small streams the track finally leads to the reservoir shore, which it follows whilst contouring back to the start point.

Duration : 3.5 hours Distance : 6 miles Ascent : 340 feet
